INTERSTATE studmaster Jock Robertson-Cuninghame, Hallcraig stud, Deepwater New South Wales topped the 43rd annual Big S Santa Gertrudis sale, Toowoomba showgrounds last week after Hallcraig Longroad L66 (P) was knocked down for $13,000.

Longroad L66, a 25-month-old son of Yarrawonga Franklin was bought by David, Sonya, Grahame and Peggy Greenup, Rosevale stud, Jandowae.

“I liked Longroad’s older genetics (Y Franklin), his tremendous coat type and he was a super functional, fertile bull,” family spokesman David Greenup said.

The $7500 second top selling bull, Hallcraig Leader L15 (P) was offered by sale chairman Glenn Holt, Santalands stud, Mooloolaba and was bought by Trent Ciesiolka, Valleyview stud, Oakey.

Mr Holt said it was a buyers’ market with reasonable demand for the better bulls.

“Our vendors met the market and the sale average was satisfactory considering the worsening seasonal conditions,” said Mr Holt.
