Since 2013, embryo's from the most prominent donors at SAV have been imported and utilised in the Killain program. Our relationship with the Kelly and Martie Schaff is strong and continuing. Only the very best of the SAV genetics are being imported with the aim of setting up a complete sister stud in Australia to this world class program.

As a result of the first importation of frozen embryos we were very honoured to win Australia's most coveted Angus title Best Angus Exhibit at the 2016 RAS Sydney RoyaL Easter Show  with the 19-month old Killain Alaska K18 (a son of SAV Rito 707 9969 from the dam SAV Emblynette 5341) He was also a member of the Champion of Champions Horden trophy winning Angus team, reported as the first time in RAS history this award had been won by a first time exhibitor. Killain Alaska K18 has subsequently been retained as a foundation sire.

At Killain we are very commercially focused,  with approximately 1000 Angus steers a year sold to Australian most prominent Angus feedlot, Rangers Valley based in Northern NSW.

SAV was selected as the foundation herd for Killain Angus for several reasons

  1. For 7 decades the SAV cow herd has been built with continuous selection pressure  and uncompromising breeding commitment, to become recognised as the world's most outstanding Angus cow herd.

  2. Strong attention to maternal traits, udder quality, fertility, fleshing ability and stringent demands based on performance have yielded a worldwide reputation for consistent, reliable quality Angus genetics with bred-in predictability.

  3. The SAV herd is completely free of any genetic recessives which have been identified in the Angus breed over the last few years

  4. Having visited SAV on several occasions the herd exhibits amazing temperament right across the board

  5. SAV has been gathering carcase information on their cattle since the 1960’s and have utilized ultrasound technology since its inception. Stacking generations of genetics bred to excel for muscling, performance and carcase quality simultaneously

We are very excited to be involved with a world class program and a family of  such incredible integrity.

Killain Angus produces Yearling bulls which are sold from the paddock each spring. This year (in the Spring of 2016) we were particularly honoured to have sold an outstanding yearling (a fully imported SAV embryo) to Australia’s most prominent bull breeding operation, the Bondfield family, Palgrove, QLD.

We welcome your enquiry for Yearling bulls and females.
